Late last year, a mythical setting met “The Modern Contract of Employment” – “The Monastery” in Petra, Jordan.
Stephen Dowd, Special Counsel Employment Relations at Piper Alderman’s Adelaide office, and Lachlan Menzies of the New South Wales Bar, recognised each other’s Australian accents and were very certainly the only 2 Australian employment law practitioners for many miles around – and millions of people. Striking up conversation about names we might know in common, Ian Neil SC immediately was identified.
In that fantastical location, we thought it would be fun to make a video about it.
Appearing in the background, “The Monastery” is a Nabatean temple from the 1st century BC, accessible only by climbing 800 steps hewn into a mountain. Remotely located in the desert in South Jordan, Petra was for 600 years a “lost city” until the early 1800s.
